SEISMIC RISK

R =    Seismic Risk.
H =    Hazard: probability of exceeding a fixed level of shaking in a site, in a specific time period.
V =    Vulnerability: attitude of property present in a structure to undergo a certain level of damage as a result of a certain level of shaking.
E =    Exposure: distribution of the population and civil activities in seismic areas; it depends on the historical evolution of the settlements.

A comprehensive study of the seismic hazard will be conducted in order to define the model of shaking on the basis of which the risk study will be performed in the sample area of Priolo Gargallo in Sicily (Italy). The structures considered for the seismic vulnerability assessment are the storage tanks. The tanks will be modeled in order to produce fragility curves for different limit states.
